A small tube of balm that genuinely earns the word almighty. Warm with the scent of cinnamon, clove, and vanilla, it melts into dry skin on contact and works wherever skin needs attention: lips, cuticles, elbows, knees, heels, and anywhere that gets dry, cracked, or rough with the cold. Handcrafted in London by FRUU from cold-pressed oils and butters upcycled from surplus fruit that would otherwise go to waste, it is the kind of thing you keep in your pocket and reach for constantly.

The Ingredients That Matter

The upcycled fruit oil base is what sets FRUU apart from most balm brands. Mango seed butter (Mangifera Indica), avocado oil (Persea Gratissima), and watermelon seed oil (Citrullus Lanatus) are cold-pressed from fruit that does not meet cosmetic appearance standards and would otherwise be discarded. The oils are identical in quality to those from cosmetically graded fruit, and together they provide a rich blend of oleic and linoleic fatty acids that absorb into dry skin rather than sitting on top of it. Castor oil (Ricinus Communis) forms the base structure, giving the balm its slip and the slightly tacky finish that keeps it on lips and cuticles. Shea butter, hemp seed oil, and rice bran oil complete a blend that is nourishing without being heavy.

The gingerbread scent comes from a natural parfum blend producing warm notes of cinnamon, clove, and vanilla. The cinnamon and clove components contribute naturally occurring aromatic compounds including Cinnamal and Eugenol, which are declared on the INCI as required and are known sensitisers for some people.

What This Isn't

The fragrance blend contains cinnamon and clove-derived compounds including Cinnamal, Eugenol, and Cinnamyl Alcohol. If you have previously reacted to spiced fragrances in leave-on products, patch test before applying to larger areas. On lips, the warming sensation from the cinnamon notes is noticeable and for most people pleasant; for very reactive skin it may cause tingling.

A pea-sized amount warmed between the fingertips is enough for most applications. The balm spreads further than its texture suggests at room temperature.

When It Works Best

This balm earns its place in a coat pocket or bag throughout the colder months, when dry air, heating, and outdoor cold do the most damage to lips, hands, and cuticles. It is equally useful year-round for anyone who finds specific areas persistently dry. The warming sensation is immediate from the first application, and regular use on dry areas produces meaningful improvement within one to two weeks. At 20g the tube is compact but concentrated and lasts considerably longer than its size suggests.

How to Use

Squeeze a pea-sized amount from the tube and warm between the fingertips for a few seconds. Apply to lips, cuticles, dry patches, or any area needing attention and massage in gently. For very dry or cracked heels, apply a more generous amount and cover with socks overnight. Store at room temperature away from direct heat.

Perfect For

  • Dry, cracked lips and cuticles needing regular attention
  • Rough elbows, knees, and heels that need concentrated nourishment
  • A pocket essential for anyone who spends time outdoors in cold weather
  • A well-considered small gift for anyone who appreciates natural, handcrafted bodycare
  • Anyone wanting a single multi-purpose balm with genuine fruit-derived ingredients and no petrochemicals

What Makes This Different

Most multi-purpose balms use mineral oil or petrolatum as their base. This one uses seven plant-derived oils and butters, several upcycled from surplus fruit, which absorb into the skin and deliver lasting nourishment rather than a superficial coating. The aluminium tube is recyclable and considerably lighter than the plastic tubs most balm products use. FRUU handcraft it in London with no petrochemicals, silicones, or synthetic fragrance.
