About Zero Waste Supply
About Zero Waste Supply Co.
TL;DR
I'm Rob, and Zero Waste Supply Co. started as an accidental journey from decluttering to discovering something quite shocking – most "sustainable" products aren't actually sustainable at all.
After stumbling into the world of greenwashing (polyester knitting kits in cardboard boxes, anyone?), I decided to hunt down genuinely sustainable products from small UK producers who are actually doing the right thing.
What we do: Curate brilliant, genuinely sustainable products from small UK producers
Why we do it: Because greenwashing is rampant, and you shouldn't have to wade through the nonsense
How we do it: We do the hard work of verifying sustainability credentials so you don't have to
Every product we stock has to meet our criteria: vegan, zero cruelty, no nasty chemicals, minimal plastic, and genuinely zero waste. Plus, they have to be of brilliant quality and actually desirable.

The Full Story
Hello, I'm Rob. This whole thing started quite by accident – I was just trying to get some e-commerce experience and maybe land a job in the field. So I set up a little web store to sell all the books, trinkets, and bric-a-brac I had in storage (some of which I'd been lugging around for decades, plus things from my parents' estate).
I was fed up with eBay's fees and their platform wasn't ideal for the sorts of things I was selling, so off I went with mylittlejunkshop.com. It didn't do too badly, actually.
The Lightbulb Moment
While building that first site, I had the opportunity to sell some "sustainable" products from a new supplier. Being keen on green living, I started listing them. But here's where it got interesting – most of them were pretty dirty. Polyester knitting kits in recyclable boxes. Plastic toys in cardboard packaging. The sole claim to being sustainable was the box.
That was my lightbulb moment. I started hunting for suppliers with verifiable, sustainable, and planet-friendly credentials. The real deal: vegan, zero cruelty, no nasty chemicals, zero or minimal plastic, and genuinely zero waste. I found a treasure trove of small UK producers creating ethical products that were also superb quality, cost-effective, and actually desirable.
Where It All Comes From
This awakening didn't come from nowhere. Being green has always been part of my life – from making a lightning collector from an old dustbin lid as a kid (fortunately it was unsuccessful) to raking up the neighbours' leaves to make compost.
But the real influence? A 1970s sci-fi film called Silent Running. Picture this: Earth devoid of its flora and fauna, with the last remnants enclosed in vast biospheres orbiting gas giants, waiting to repopulate our planet. When I watched those biospheres being destroyed to save corporations money, it horrified me. That film shaped how I've tried to live – seeking the smallest possible impact on our environment.
Looking at today's world – ecosystem collapse, runaway pollution, the climate crisis – Silent Running seems almost prophetic. Except we don't have a fleet of spacecraft waiting to save Earth's ecosystems.
What We're Actually About
Zero Waste Supply Co. has three clear aims:
Source and Curate Brilliant Sustainable Products
We work with small UK producers who are genuinely committed to sustainability. We do the hard work of finding products with real environmental credentials so you don't have to wade through the greenwashing.
Educate and Inform
We share knowledge about sustainable living, explain product benefits, and help people make informed choices. No corporate waffle – just honest information about why these products matter.
Give Back to the Environment and Society
Every purchase supports both environmental causes and small producers, creating positive change. It's about building a community of people who want to live more sustainably without compromising on quality or convenience.
Living the Change
I'm not perfect (who is?), but I'm working towards a less wasteful, more sustainable lifestyle with my two dogs and some Ukrainian guests. I'm replacing mass-produced, chemically suspect products with cleaner, plastic-free, and zero-waste alternatives.
This business gives me the chance to share that journey with others who care about making better choices. It's not just about selling products – it's about proving that sustainable living doesn't mean compromising on quality or convenience.
