About Friendly Soap

Friendly Soap was founded in 2009 in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, by two friends who were frustrated by the lack of genuinely effective, natural skin care options. They wanted to create products that actually worked for problem skin without resorting to harsh chemicals or empty marketing claims.

Every bar is still handmade in their Yorkshire workshop using the cold-process method - the traditional soap-making technique that preserves the natural properties of plant oils, butters, and essential oils. Unlike mass-produced soap, which is made quickly using heat and harsh chemicals, cold-process soap takes weeks to cure properly. The result is a harder, longer-lasting bar with therapeutic ingredients that remain potent.

Friendly Soap use only plant-based oils - no animal fats, no palm oil, no questionable ingredients. Their tea tree & turmeric soap contains genuine tea tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) and real turmeric root powder (Curcuma longa), not synthetic fragrance or colouring. They're committed to complete transparency: if it's in the soap, it's listed in the ingredients. If it's not necessary, it's not included.

How to Use & Store Your Soap Bar

For face (acne-prone skin):

Wet your face with warm water, lather the soap in your hands, then apply the lather to your face in circular motions. Leave it on for 30-60 seconds to let the tea tree and turmeric work, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use once or twice daily. Your skin may feel slightly tingly - that's the tea tree working.

For body:

Wet the bar and lather directly onto your skin, or work up a lather in your hands first. Focus on problem areas - back acne, chest breakouts, anywhere that needs antibacterial support. Rinse thoroughly.

Note about turmeric:

Turmeric can temporarily leave a slight yellow tint on pale skin, especially if you have very dry skin or leave the lather on for extended periods. This washes off easily with water and is completely harmless. If you're concerned, test on a small area first.

Making your soap last longer:

Keep your bar on a draining soap dish or soap bag between uses. Soap left sitting in water dissolves quickly - good drainage doubles the life of your bar. If it gets a bit soft, just let it dry out for a day or two and it'll harden up again.

Store backup bars in a cool, dry place. They'll continue to cure and become harder over time. The tea tree scent mellows slightly as bars age, but the therapeutic properties remain effective.
